Spring Cleaning In The Bathroom: Simple Ways To Revitalize The Decor

With spring right around the corner (March 20th, FYI), there's no better time than now to perform a little pre-spring cleaning in the bathroom. Doing so will not only open up more storage options for you and other family members, but it will create a more attractive and overall enjoyable atmosphere.

Out With The Old

The first step in any major cleaning project -- including the bathroom -- is to remove unused items. Go through your medicine cabinet, underneath the vanity, and shelves to pull out any toiletries or other items that you no longer use.

You don't necessarily have to throw them away, but you should take them out of the bathroom. Allowing them to stay here will only take up valuable storage space that could be used for other, more important accessories. Remember, space is valuable commodity in the bathroom, so you have to selectively choose which items to store here.

Spring Colors

If you really want to bring the spring season into your bathroom, you should decorate it around authentic spring colors. Spring is the time of year when plants come out of their dormant state to blossom; therefore, there are plenty of bold, bright colors throughout the landscape.

Some examples of spring colors include the following:

  • African violet
  • Poppy red
  • Blue dusk
  • Spotlight
  • Beet
  • Glacier blue
  • Jade
  • Honey
  • Violet
  • Tuscany
  • Pink Champagne

Note: you don't have to necessarily repaint your bathroom, but you should incorporate some of the previous colors into the decor.

Spring Decor

There are a countless number of ways to approach a "spring" decor for the bathroom. You can use a combination of bright colors and floral arrangements to create an authentic spring-time atmosphere, or you take a more traditional route by keeping the current decor but mixing in some spring accessories.

Choose decorative accessories for your bathroom that bring more vibrancy and life to the atmosphere (after all, that's what spring is about). You could hang a colorful painting on the wall to fill a voided space. Another idea is a floral decal on the wall. Regardless of which decorative accessories you choose, make sure they flow with your current decor.

Can't seem to find enough space in your bathroom to store all of your items? Assuming you followed our advice and have already removed all of your old, unused items, perhaps you can install a new shelving unit or space-saver. These are just a couple of options to free up more space in your bathroom. Feel free to read our previous blog post here for more bathroom storage solutions.
