Vintage Bathroom Accessories To Create a Timeless Decor

There are certain interior design trends which come and go throughout the ages, but going with a 'vintage' theme offers the peace of mind knowing that it's safe from changes such as this. You may have to invest a little extra time and energy into finding some of the accessories to achieve a vintage decor in your bathroom; however, the end result is well worth it in the long run. Vintage bathrooms are undeniably beautiful and sophisticated, allowing families to enjoy them for countless years. This week, we're going to reveal some of the top accessories to help you achieve a vintage bathroom.

Clawfoot Bathtub

One of my personal favorite vintage bathroom accessories is a clawfoot bathtub (see photo above). These tubs were originally used back in the early 1900s but have since been replaced by cheaper alternatives designed to sit flush with the floor. With that said, you can revitalize the appearance of your bathroom by incorporating a vintage clawfoot tub into the decor. It's a classic accessory that will bring a sense of style and sophistication to the atmosphere.

Antique Vanity

The vanity is a natural focal point in most bathrooms. This can either hurt or help the decor depending on how it's done. Using a cheap, modern-day vanity in a bathroom that's decorated around vintage elements will create an unbalanced appearance that clashes with the surrounding decor. On the other hand, setting your bathroom up with an aged, antique vanity will compliment the rest of your decorating efforts, bringing the decor together in a cohesive manner.

Here are some tips on choosing the right antique vanity for your bathroom:
  • Look on Craigslist, local classified ads and even yard sales for used vanities.
  • Measure your current vanity so you know what size to replace it with.
  • Antique vanities typically possess curves, floral designs and other patterns.
  • Choose a vanity that flows with your bathroom's current color scheme.
  • Try to envision how the new vanity will look in your bathroom before purchasing it.

Mason Jar Storage System

In a previous blog post, we discussed some easy DIY storage solutions for the bathroom. There are plenty of ways to add more storage space to the bathroom, but using some mason jars (described in the previous link) offers a vintage look to help you achieve a more classic decor. Mason jars are the perfect size for storing things like toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, cotton swabs, cotton balls, makeup pads, etc.
