Spring-Inspired Home Decor Tips

As you may already know, the official start of the 2013 spring season occurred on March 20th. Depending on where you live, this should be apparent with the brightly colored flowers and plantlife blooming throughout the landscape. Instead of just letting this season pass and enter into the summer months, you should use it as an opportunity to do some home redecorating. Contrary to what some people may believe, redecorating your home with some fresh, spring-inspired elements doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg or take up a ton of your time.

Think "Spring" Colors

The most important thing to remember when decorating your home is to use spring colors. So, just what exactly are spring colors? Basically, they are any colors found in nature during this time of year. You can get some inspirations and ideas simply by looking outside at some of the gardens and flowerbeds. Pink, purple, orange and yellow are all perfect examples of spring colors. Remember, this season is all about new life with vibrant colors, so you'll want your home's atmosphere to reflect this through its decor.

New Throw Pillows

Sometimes all it takes to liven up the atmosphere inside a home is new throw pillows. If you still have old, neutral-colored throw pillow on your living room furniture, you should consider swapping them out for more "spring-friendly" ones. If you shop for throw pillows at places like Target or Wal-Mart, they should only cost you about $10-$20 bucks a piece, which is a small price to pay for a well-decorated home.

Bring In Flowers or Plants

Another simple way to create a more spring-inspired home is to bring in some flowers or plants. You don't have to go all out with a huge indoor garden, but instead just use a couple of them around the living room, dining room and kitchen. The extra colors will help your home decor flow together in a cohesive manner. The only downside, however, is that plants require a bit of maintenance to grow and thrive. If you fail to give them adequate sunlight and water, they will die off.

These are just a few of the many ways to create a spring-inspired home. Have fun when decorating your home and don't be afraid to think outside the box. Try rearranging your furniture in different ways, bring out old sheets, hang new pictures or photos, etc. These are all simple ways to bring new life into your home, preparing it for the spring season!
